About Our Organization
Project H.U.G. is an organization comprised of individuals who work within the intimate apparel and other industries. Our members are executives, designers, salespersons, etc. who volunteer their time. None of our members are paid and we are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
Our mission is to “Contribute to the Triumph of the Human Spirit” and to participate in activities that will reflect credit to our industry and ourselves. In practical terms, our "mission" is to raise funds and distribute them to charities of our choice. The organization was founded in 1955. The primary beneficiaries at the time were charities concerned with the Blind and the Elderly. Over the years, Project H.U.G. had developed a very close relationship with the pediatric services department of The Howard A. Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine and Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at NYU Langone Health. Today the lion's share of our monies are earmarked for the benefit of "The Rusk and Hassenfeld Kids."
Additionally, we join the staff and "The Rusk and Hassenfeld Kids" throughout the year by holding at Rusk a “Christmas/Hanukkah in July” party, an Easter/Passover party, and a holiday party in December.
